Frequently asked questions

Am I too old to do Pilates?

You're never too old to do Pilates! I have taught students up to 70 years old and they have all benefited from increased strength and better mobility

I have a back/hip/shoulder ... problem?

Pilates is a particularly good form of exercise if you have a long standing injury: exercises can be selected and adapted to suit you and your body.  For new acute injuries you should always consult your medical practitioner before taking up any exercise.

I am pregnant / I've just had a baby

I am trained in Pilates for pregnancy and the postnatal period.  Exercises are built up safely and carefully.

I have osteoporosis/osteopoenia

I am trained in Pilates for osteoporosis and osteopoenia.  Carefully selected Pilates exercises can be very beneficial for improving and maintaining posture, developing good balance, and maintaining bone density.

What shall I wear?

Just wear comfortable clothing in which you can move easily, for example, t-shirt and leggings. It's a good idea to wear socks because your feet will need to slide.

Do I need to practice?

You don't have to practice between sessions, but if you want to I can give guidance.
